New jobs and investment of 800,000 Euros in Sligo
A new state-of-the-art facility was opened in Sligo. It was the tenth anniversary of Verus Precision. Presently, the Company is planning for short-term growth. It also aims to open an independent metrology lab in USA next year to. It operates largest independent dimensional metrology lab Ireland and also has a second lab in Nottingham in the UK. Metrology deals with the scientific study of measurement. Verus Precision has a record of working at the global level in the Med- Tech sector. It ensures the accurate, scientific dimensional measurement of products and has the aim of adding value to the product design and development.
Verus Precision employs 20 experienced mechanical design, metrology engineers and toolmakers. Firstly it has created four additional jobs now in the new global Metrology Fixture Design and Manufacturing Centre. Four more jobs will be added in the next two years. The company had purchased the neglected premises at Cleveragh in 2017 and has spent 12 months in renovation. Now it boasts of a state-of-the-art facility. Moreover, there was an investment of €800,000 and €150,000 was the capital investment from Enterprise Ireland for creating eight new jobs. Verus Precision was located at the Aughamore Far Industrial Park, Sligo, and the company plans to retain this facility for carrying out Research and New Product Development. The present MD Andrew Hodson and Technical Director Michael Nugent established it in 2008. Furthermore, it is the first and the largest independent metrology lab in the country.
Presently, the Verus group has a turnover of €2.5m and has an aim to have €8m turnover in the future years. In order to assure growth Verus has expanded its Board of Directors recently. In 2016, Verus commenced working with Global Sourcing team of Enterprise Ireland. It helps the clients in establishing contact with multinational organizations located in Ireland. These contacts have helped Verus in expanding its export business globally.
